The new owner of Hapoel Jerusalem BC, Matan Edelshtein, held a press conference today (Wednesday) ahead of the upcoming season. During the conference, Edelshtein surprised everyone by presenting the first signing in the form of Israeli center Gaby Chachashvili from Bamberg, Germany. He also announced the extension of the contract of coach Alexander Dzjikic until 2026. Gaby Chachashvili, who played last season for Oran Amit in Bamberg from the German league, averaged 7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 20 minutes on the court, and his contract will be for 2 years with an option for an additional year. Before leaving for Germany, the 23-year-old Israeli played for Hapoel Gilboa Galil in the Israeli league, averaging 7.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, earning him the league's rookie of the year award and a spot on the expanded Israeli national team. Kadyn Carington, the American guard, has extended his contract for 3 years. 'I'm really happy to continue with Hapoel,' Carington said after signing, 'We had a great season, but I definitely think we have unfinished business and that's why I'm really excited to come back and do something special. We have amazing fans, an incredible organization, so it was an easy decision for me to extend my contract and build something here for the next few years. Hapoel for life!'.
